Home - India - Schools - Tutoring Centers

Tutoring centers sponsored by BCM have emerged in recent years as an excellent way to introduce the Gospel into otherwise closed villages, and to reach into many unreached Hindu and Muslim families with the simple Gospel. The idea was first tried in island villages near the Training Center, and has since spread beyond into the Indian mainland, in regionswhere a village church planting work has already begun.

Generally the village school children have no one to help them with their homework studies, as so many of their parents are not literate, or otherwise not available to tutor them. Typically, BCM will field one educated and dedicated disciple, often a woman, who will set up a simple program under any shaded structure, even a thatched roof on poles, a community portico or a large shady tree. Children are invited to gather there each day, during the few daylight hours after school. The tutor helps them with whatever they need regarding homework, and provides Bible-based music, stories and activities. Also, during the earlier part of the day, older adults can be invited there for literacy classes. Almost without exception, such programs have been openly welcomed, and provide a very positive way to introduce families to the Basics of the Gospel, with Bible stories and songs.
